Monday 30 November 2015

We said our farewells to everyone before leaving Oasis of Hope.  We will be keeping in touch with with everyone especially Russ and Twyla as they continue their journey.

We are now in San Diego, we had a lovely evening last night and went to Seaport Village for a nice meal at The Fish Market.

Saturday 28 November 2015

Today is our last day at Oasis of Hope, I had my cell vaccine in the morning before breakfast and then we said goodbye to Dina who's travelling back to L.A.

Saying goodbye to Dina

Yesterday I had hypothermia treatment which took three hours, this time they put me inside a silver tent.

At breakfast we took a few photos of some of the different people we have met here. It will be sad to leave tomorrow.

Thursday 26 November 2015

Today began with ozone therapy and vitamin C infusions followed by a talk on nutrition by Dr Contreras daughter.

It was Thanksgiving today and everyone celebrated with a beautiful turkey roast dinner with all the trimmings.

The Contreras family stayed with us for the meal and wished us all a happy thanksgiving.

In the afternoon we went for a walk by the Mexican boarder and along the beach to the ukulele cafe.

Wednesday 25 November 2015

Went to see Dr Contreras and Dr Secenior today for my consultation and was given some really good news.  They showed us the CT scan and the PET scan on the screens and compared them and gave us the most amazing news that tumour had shrunk!!  He said the tumour was measured at 4.6cm and had shrunk to about 2.9cm in size; they were very pleased with the results, and Dr Contreras said that if he was a drinking man he would have a drink to celebrate. He said the results for esophageal cancer are not normally this good as it is an aggressive form of cancer so they were very encouraged. We celebrated with a nice green juice.

Lisa went for on a trip to Revolution, Tijuana in the afternoon and did a bit of shopping with Russ and his wife Twyla from Colorado and Janet from the UK. We have met some really lovely people here this week and have enjoyed some fun and laughter at meal times.

Tuesday 24 November 2015

Today began quite early with ozone therapy and vitamin C infusions whilst listening to lovely worship and prayer by Ernesto.  We were all so happy to hear the news that Rita, who I met on my first visit was now in remission.

The food has been lovely so far - all freshly prepared, organic and very colourful.  We had sword fish for tea.

The Christmas tree is now up in Oasis and we had some time in the afternoon to do a bit of Christmas shopping at WalMart which is just down the road.  All the Christmas songs were playing in Spanish and all the Mexican Christmas treats were out on display.

Monday 23 November 2015

Gaynor started her treatment today and we had a lovely devotional time with Ernesto who played the guitar and prayed for all the patients - he was so encouraging. During the afternoon my mum took me to Tijuana beach for a walk along the boardwalk, there was so much colour and artwork!  When we got back we saw Dr Secenior for a brief consultation before tea.

Sunday 22 November 2015

Arrived late last night at La Quinita Hotel in San Diego and ready for bed.  This morning we awoke to beautiful sunshine and took a walk down Old Town before our journey across to the boarder into Mexico.  Had a bit of time to sit in the warm sun and enjoy a cup of rose tea and a little look around Old Town.

We arrived at the Oasis of Hope Hospital this afternoon and have already settled in to our rooms and had time to catch up with some old friends.  It was great to see Russ from Colorado and his wife Twyler and Manny the caretaker, Martha in the kitchen and enjoy the lovely organic food.

Will be starting treatment 7 am tomorrow morning Lisa and I are starting to feel tired and its only 5.30 pm we have to stay awake to get into the time zone!  We were so tired last night when we arrived at La Quinta that we thought the microwave in the room was the safe lol.
